Austin Lee Carpenter

Austin Lee Carpenter, age 14 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky died Sunday, February 23, 2025 at the Wayne County Hospital in Monticello, Kentucky.

He was born in Oneida, Tennessee on January 21, 2011 the son of Jospeh Carpenter and Kimberly (Letner) Carpenter. Austin was a student in McCreary County Middle School and a member of the Open-Door Ministries. Austin enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, motorcycles, cars, and playing games.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jospeh Carpenter; and grandfather, Austin “Poppa” Lee Perry.

Survivors include his mother, Kimberly Carpenter of Whitley City, Kentucky; brothers, Kalib McFarland and Kody McFarland both of Oklahoma; grandparents, Janet Saunders of Lexington, Kentucky, Marcus “Poppy” Saunders of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Sue Perry of Ohio; Tammy White of Oklahoma and Joy Carpenter of Oklahoma; special friend, Sherry Soard of Pine Knot, Kentucky; aunts and uncles, Amanda Letner of Oklahoma, Rachel Perkins of Whitley City, Kentucky; Shannon McFarland of Oklahoma, Kim Letner and Raeina Hogston both of Somerset, Kentucky, Tammy Baker of Ohio, Nola James of Somerset, Kentucky, Jesscia carpenter, Joani Rollins, Joy Carpenter, Jeremy Carpenter, Justin Carpenter, Jared Carpenter all of Oklahoma, Craig Letner of Somerset, Kentucky, Eddie Martin of London, Kentucky, and Billy Letner of Somerset, Kentucky; numerous cousins left behind to cherish Auston; and too many friends and extended family members that loved him and will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held 1pm Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Braxton King officiating. Burial to follow in the Grave Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6pm Monday, March 3, 2025 at the Funeral Home.
